ROBERT F. KAYROS

Robert F. Kayros has over 30 years of expertise in design and implementation of measurement and control systems for petroleum, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.  Bob's skills include management of instrumentation projects, field analysis of process control problems, and development of on-line process analyzer installations. He is accomplished in PLC programming for blending, oil movement, bulk product loading, and machine control, interface development using In Touch, Factory Link, and Visual Basic, and design of data communications between PLC, PC, DCS, and smart instruments.

Flow Measurement

  • Measurement, automation, and control applications in processing, storage, and delivery of LPG, fuels, chemicals, and lubricants.
  • Developed computer control, graphics, and programming; and trained operators for semiworks scale chemical fractionation system for an East Coast R&D company.

System Controls and Energy Conservation

  • Engineering of process control analyzers for product quality control and process control in chemical production and energy conservation applications including fired heaters and multiple process steam boilers.
  • Engineering of temperature control systems for chocolate mills, production of binder for glass fiber insulation, and control of solvent vapors in an ammunition plant.

Flare Systems

  • Determined how best to measure flare gas thermal energy content after evaluation of several measurement devices including GC.
  • Developed fix for flare line O2 analyzer which failed due to exposure to H2S
  • Worked with National Air Oil to develop more reliable flare tip burners for an East Coast client.

Safety

  • Installation of safety control systems at underground LPG storage caverns.

Mr. Kayros holds a BSEE in Electronics, MS in Engineering Management, and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, all from Drexel University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (by examination), and in the State of New Jersey. Bob is a member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers, within which he has served with the Petroleum & Chemical Industries Committee, Industry Application Society. In addition, he is a senior member of the Instrument Society of America and and was a member of the American Petroleum Institute, within which he served as voting member for Sunoco, Inc. during 1989 - 1995.
