J. MICHAEL JESIONOWSKI
J.
Michael (Mike) Jesionowski is a seasoned project and process engineer, whose experience is based on
his long-term career at
the Toledo, Ohio refinery of Sunoco, Inc. and subsequent refinery project
management work completed during a 3 year contract period in Lima,
Ohio and assignments with Becht Engineering. Mike has extensive expertise in energy conservation
and in capital and strategic planning, functions he specialized in at
Sunoco. Selected projects and accomplishments:

Refinery Project Engineer and Project Manager Responsible for a wide
variety of refinery revamp improvements including FCC gas plant, Main Fractionator, Debutanizer, Compressors
that helped significantly expand capacity of this UOP FCC technology unit
located in an Ohio refinery. Provided process design, project engineering and project
management including training of and supervision of less experienced engineers.
Energy Optimization Becht Engineering’s process engineer in a team of
client and contract engineers who inspected and provided energy savings
recommendations for chemical producing facilities located at the client’s USA
and international sites.
Lead Process Engineer Supervised refinery technical services
and process design support to the Crude and Vacuum distillation, Propane deasphalting, FCC, Alkylate, Poly gasoline,
Reforming, Hydrocracking, Hydrotreating, UDEX, gas plants, Utilities, and Product Logistics units and
catalyst evaluation. Supervised process engineering of refinery improvement projects.
Capital Planning Specialist Developed refinery capital plans
and managed a $60 Million annual capital plan which included mandated infrastructure, and profit improvement projects
such as sulfur plant expansion, Vacuum Tower Bottoms conversion, manufacture of low sulfur diesel fuel, reduction of
gasoline Reid vapor pressure, advanced process control, and BTX manufacture and logistics.
Refinery Strategic Planner Responsible for strategic
planning for the Sunoco Refinery. Constructed
LP Models used for short-term and long term strategic planning. Developed plans for revamps of
major processing units. Coordinated and analyzed Solomon
Associates' survey data and integrated conclusions into company strategic plans. Recommended a new yield
accounting system that was installed
Energy Conservation Served 1 year as Sunoco Corporate Energy
Coordinator. Identified capital projects and reduced refinery energy consumption by 30%. Projects featured
innovative technologies including use of heat pipes to recover heat from flue gas, and novel gas purchasing
arrangements that significantly reduced fuel costs.

Mike has his BSChE from Ohio University, and an MBA from Bowling Green State University.
Continuing education seminars include Distillation Theory, Process Heat
Transfer, Hydroprocessing, Engineering Management. He has published technical papers in the areas of
automated yield accounting and refinery energy consumption.
Mike has been an active member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers for many years, serving
as Treasurer, Secretary, Program manager, and Chairman of the local section. He was named Engineer of the Year by
his local section in 1991. He has been a member of National Manufacturers' Association, and has served as a
member of the committee on Petroleum Measurement of the American Petroleum Institute.
