Special areas of expertise include project and contract management, process design and development, process evaluation, environmental/risk assessment, and quality control of petroleum products.

  • Process design of grass-root petroleum refineries, refinery expansion and revamps, including crude units, catalytic cracking units, cokers, visbreakers and thermal cracking units, deasphalters, reformers, hydrogenation and hydro-desulfurization units. Process engineering and development of distillate hydrotreating, jet fuel and gasoline treating, and deasphalting.

  • Process design and development of solvent and naphthenic lube processes and specialty oils, including lube hydrocracking, hydrotreating, solvent extraction, deasphalting, and dewaxing. Developed process design basis for major Caribbean grass-roots lube oil refinery.

  • Process design of chemical and petrochemical units, including synthetic rubber and ethylene cracking units. Process development and engineering of methyl-tertiary-butyl-ether (MTBE), polypropylene, ethylene-propylene copolymer, polyesters, nitriles, adhesives, and fertilizers. Developed one of the first commercial MTBE processes.

  • Process development and design of heavy crude processes, including hydrotreating, coking and deasphalting processes. Developed new process for dehydrating and separating heavy California crude oil.

  • Quality assurance, compliance and upgrading of the refining, transportation, and distribution of gasoline and fuels products.

  • Comprehensive assessment of the technology and competitive position of integrated multi-refinery corporation, including fuels, lubes and petrochemicals refining, pipeline and marine transportation, and refinery product distribution and retail marketing.
