Process Design and Development Jerry has more than 25 years of process simulation experience including Aspen, ProVision, and Hysis. Participated in, consulted on, and/or managed the design, development, and evaluation of new processes for:
- Production of olefins from natural gas and from gas oil
- Dimerization of olefins
- Metathesis of ethylene and butylene to propylene
- Production and use of epoxides, ethers, alcohols, and styrene
- Utilization of collagen for cell culture, bioseparations and environmental processes
Olefins Manufacture/Utilization Participated in the design/start-up and provided services for world scale petrochemical plants, chemical, and biotech facilities.
- Petrosar, Sarnia, Ontario
- PEMEX, La Cangreherra, Mexico
- Gulf Oil, Cedar Bayou, Texas
- Conoco/Monsanto, Chocolate Bayou, Texas
- ARCO Chemical, 11 propylene oxide plants around the world
- VERAN, Inc., Lebanon, NH
Biotechnology Participated in the development and startup of technology for the production of biomolecules from CHD cells in a fluidized bed bioreactor. This was also the topic of his PhD thesis.
Corporate Training Developed and offered short courses for industry
- Fluid mechanics
- Probability and statistics for chemical engineers
- Material and energy balances
